The M.A. in History of Art is a research-based Master鈥檚 programme that invites you to explore and critically analyse works of art and architecture, as well as key themes and approaches aligned with the Department鈥檚 areas of expertise. You will pursue your studies through one of four specialised tracks: (a) Contextual Art History and Visual Culture; (b) Art Theory; (c) Technical Art History; or (d) Collections, Museum, and Curatorial Studies. The programme offers you the flexibility to approach art history from a wide range of perspectives, encouraging independent, in-depth research grounded in strong theoretical and critical frameworks. You will develop the ability to engage rigorously with the materiality of artworks, the theories that shape their interpretation, and the contexts that inform their production, while refining advanced skills in scholarly writing and analysis. This programme is particularly suited to you if you have broad intellectual interests or wish to adopt an interdisciplinary approach to the study of art.
